It was created to honor a dear friend who has breast cancer... diagnosed in 2008. She is an amazing woman and is doing beautifully! I wanted to donate a piece to be auctioned to benefit breat cancer. I am working on a series along the same lines.
I donated this piece to the Artists of Scottsdale Ranch Silent Auction at the 2010 January art show benefiting The Virginia G. Piper Cancer Center. It brought the most amoutn of bids and a good price for the Center. I am very pleased. ;-)
My love of art revolves around the female figure. I have chosen the female figure as a means of both capturing and expressing the emotion involved in the feminine experience. Loose figure sculpture is the vehicle I use to explore emotions ranging from humor to grief.
Formerly from Highland Park, IL and Pompano Beach, FL, I now live in Arizona where I continue to expand my passion for sculpting the female figure.
My work has been produced in kiln fired terra cotta, stoneware and porcelain; cast bronze and most recently cold cast bronze with various patinas. My work can be seen at the Artist’s of Scottsdale Ranch annual Art Show in January.
Sharon, this piece is so powerful, and I love how you've put two views together to show!
